I grew up in Sweden with a Golden Retriever called Blondie. We did everything together and were best friends. I came to San Francisco in 1998. While studying for a degree in Film Production, I missed having a pet so decided to put an ad up offering dog walking. I soon started walking two puppies with boundless energy. After graduating, I started working at a TV production company but later left to pursue a career in pet care.
I happily found myself at The San Francisco SPCA, where I worked for about a year and a half. I learned a lot about dogs and cats, working both in the Inpatient Department and Adoptions. After leaving that job in 2002 I continued on as a volunteer walking dogs and helping out at dog training classes. In 2003 I started a large dog walking and pet sitting company. I later sold that business but after a year missed being around animals and started Mari’s Dog Walking in 2008.
I have taken a pet first aid class twice, most recently in 2015 to brush up on my skills.
